The COSMIC Charity Ball
COSMIC (the Children of St Mary’s Intensive Care) is a registered charity that raises funds for the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington and supports research into life-threatening diseases.
Our involvement with the charity has resulted in us being able to donate a number of organising sessions, for their auction at their annual ball. The lucky bidders this year received a consultation, tailor-made personal plan and 1 project day for hands-on organising help for their home or business.
On the Night
There was a real sense of occasion when we arrived at the Dorchester Hotel, Park Lane. The décor was beautiful, especially the mirrored gold reception room, and everybody looked impressive in their bow ties and evening gowns. Before going through to dinner there was time to view the many prizes up for auction.
After the dinner, it was very exciting when the auctioneer started the bidding - especially when Stream Organising came under the hammer!
"Is your house a nightmare? Garage full of Junk? Office knee-deep in paper? Brain full to bursting? No time to relax and have fun?"
"Then let the calming influence of Stream Organising sort it out for you and get your life back in order. Then you’ll feel less stressed and more in control, giving you more time for the things you really enjoy."
One gentleman began bidding right away - as, to my surprise, did a table of 12 cheering nurses from Paddington Hospital. I wondered if they had all clubbed together to win the prize. Every time they increased their bid there were cheers and applause ringing around the room.
But the gentleman prevailed with a bid of £550. He later explained that his home needed de-cluttering and that he had items he wanted selling with the proceeds donated to charity.
Out of curiosity, I joined the table of nurses to ask about their bid. Apparently one of them badly needed my de-cluttering services at home and her friends were supporting her by trying to put off the competition. After chatting, I was more than happy to offer her a free consultation, as it seemed she really did need Stream Organising.
Other items auctioned included dinner for eight cooked in your home by Julie Friend - BBC Master Chef 1997, along with a Ryan Giggs signed football shirt which amazingly raised more than a trip to New York. At the end nearly £39,300 had been raised for this worthy cause - and great fun was had by all!

The COSMIC Charity Walk
Stream Organising is proud to have also taken part in COSMIC’s 2005 sponsored walk around Hyde Park. Each year former PICU patients, families and friends take part in the event held in support of COSMIC, starting by the old bandstand and ending up at St Mary’s hospital for tea, magic and raffle prizes for the children and adults alike. It was a great day out for the whole family and Stream Organising were delighted to be a part of this worthy annual event. In total the walk raised nearly £40,000 making it by far the biggest and most successful COSMIC walk ever.
